October and November seem to be high times for conferences. I suppose its partly a function of cooler weather at popular conference locations, like Las Vegas. Speaking of Las Vegas, that’s the first stop on my trip. I’m heading out today to attend the Deloitte 2nd Annual IT Energy Transacting Roundtable. Deloitte is bringing together leaders of trading firm’s IT groups to discuss the latest developments, trends, and issues related to systems for managing energy trading activities. I’ll be speaking with Roger Schaffland of Deloitte about implementing ETRM solutions. We’ll be talking about UtiliPoint’s latest (not yet released) book, “Selecting and Implementing Energy Trading, Transaction and Risk Management Software” (catchy title, no?), which was co-sponsored and contributed to by Roger and Deloitte.

After Las Vegas, I’ll be traveling to Dallas to Allegro’s Energy Summit 2007, a gathering of Allegro’s ETRM clients to lead a discussion about the trends and issues, with a particular focus on “turning data into opportunity”. There will be a panel discussion with several industry leaders and clients of Allegro.

After a week and a half break, I’ll be presenting at Energy Risk’s LNG conference in Houston, talking about ETRM solutions for LNG trading and transaction management. Given the nascent state of the LNG markets in the US, hopefully I can provide some enlightenment into the subject. Right after finishing up there, I’ll head to the airport and fly to New Orleans to visit SunGard’s Energy Summit 2007. At this meeting, I’ll be paired with another industry analyst to discuss and take audience questions as to technology and market trends.

Hopefully, I’ll have a few topics of interest to discuss after all this.
